Textiles: Natural Dyeing Fabrics
Learn how to capture nature's colour palette
For thousands of years plants have been used to dye fibre and fabric. Learn how to capture nature's beautiful colour palette with this natural dyeing workshop.
This workshop introduces you to the basic techniques of the craft. You will learn to pre-mordant your fibres and fabric, set up a dye bath, create varieties of colour using alkaline and acids and prepare bundles ready for dyeing. During this process you will be making a small dyeing portfolio of samples to take home and allow you to keep experimenting.
We will provide all you need to do the class but feel free to bring your own garments. Please make sure the garments 100% natural fibres (cotton, silk, bamboo etc.)
