ABOUT THE TEACHER

Michael Braden began his signwriting career in Darwin N.T in 1977, as an apprentice under the tutelage of some of Australia’s leading signwriters, who would flock to the tropics to escape the southern winters.
After making his way to Sydney in the early eighties, he was invited to join Althouse & Geiger, Australia’s oldest and most respected sign company (est 1875). He also joined the Signwriter’s Guild of Australia.
After traveling to London to further his knowledge in Gold leafing and glass work, he moved back to Sydney to open his own sign shop, employing tradesmen as well as training several apprentices.
With nearly 40 years of signwriting experience behind him and now a successful fine artist,
Michael still enjoys the traditional brush skills required of the signwriter, and passing this knowledge on to those who wish to keep this great art alive.
